Athletes of the Week for December 12, 2022

Women’s Basketball

Katie Titus  —  University of Rochester  —  Penfield, NY (Our Lady of Mercy)

University of Rochester graduate student forward Katie Titus averaged 35.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 2.0 blocks, and 2.0 assists per game in a pair of wins. She registered her third double-double of the season with 33 points and 11 rebounds in the Yellowjackets’ 83-66 victory over 17th-ranked Ithaca College on Wednesday, adding four steals and three blocks. Titus hit five 3-pointers and finished with 37 points and seven boards in a 67-54 win over State University of New York at Brockport on Saturday. In two games, she shot 58.7 percent from the field (27-for-46), 38.9 percent from three-point range (7-of-18), and 90.0 percent from the free throw line (9-for-10).

Men’s Basketball

Cinqué Stephens  —  NYU  —  Dallas, TX (Wilbraham & Monson)

NYU junior guard Cinqué Stephens recorded back-to-back career-highs in scoring as NYU posted two wins by more than 30 points. He scored 27 points, hitting eight of 10 three-pointers, and contributed six rebounds and four assists in a 98-62 victory over York (NY) College on Wednesday. Stephens topped that with 33 points, six boards, and five steals in a 138-92 win over Hunter College on Saturday. For two games, he shot 67.7 percent from the floor (21-for-31), 62.5 percent from three-point range (10-for-16), and 80.0 from the free throw line (8-of-10).

Wrestling

Hassan Khan  —  NYU  —  Elk Grove, CA (Franklin)

Junior Hassan Khan pinned both his opponents as NYU faced Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Johnson & Wales University. He pinned his WPI opponent in 2:39 before dispatching his Johnson & Wales opponent in just 40 seconds to move to 9-3 this season with six falls.
