Baseball topped by WashU

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The baseball team took a 17-0 loss at WashU on Friday afternoon.

The Panthers were hurt by three multi-run innings for WashU that accounted for 16 of the 17 runs.

Greenville fell behind 1-0 after two innings, and WashU posted seven runs in the third inning.

The Bears tacked on four runs in the fifth and five in the sixth inning.

Sam Alender suffered the pitching loss for Greenville as he allowed eight runs in three innings.

Lukas Whitten added a scoreless inning of relief.

Luke Rushik gave up four runs in one inning, and Tucker Rappe permitted five runs, three earned, in one-third of an inning.

Jacob Cutter worked through two-thirds of an inning wtih three walks and two strikeouts.

Greenville had four hits in the game that were contributed by Adam Lamb, Austin Lawrence, Parker Panich, and Zach Cameron.

The Panthers (20-14) travel to Eureka on Saturday for a doubleheader.
