Bats Quieted as Softball Dropped by #20 Brandeis

WALTHAM, Mass. - The Worcester State University softball team could not get its offense going against 20th-ranked Brandeis University on Wednesday afternoon, suffering a pair of defeats in non-conference action at Marcus Field. Worcester State dropped game one 8-0 in five innings, before falling 4-0 in game two.

With the pair of losses, Worcester State falls to 6-28 on the season. 

Game 1 - Brandeis 8, Worcester State 0

Junior Ashley Lynch (Shrewsbury, Mass.) recorded two hits in game number one, but the Lancers were only able to string together four hits as a team in the opener as the Judges picked up the victory. 

Sophomore Sarah Fahey (Auburn, Mass.) and junior Kaiulani Ennis (Swansea, Mass.) also picked up hits for Worcester State in the loss, but the Lancers weren't able to string together enough hits to get on the board in the abbreviated defeat.

Junior Carly Zielinski (Monson, Mass.) took the loss for Worcester State, allowing just four earned runs.

Game 2 - Brandeis 4, Worcester State 0

Worcester State sophomore Liv Larson (Marlborough, Mass.) had a strong outing in the circle, but the offense couldn't provide any run support in a game two loss. Larson pitched a complete game in the nightcap, allowing just two earned runs on six hits

Sophomore Tyler Rano (Auburn, Mass.) provided two of Worcester State's three hits in game two, while Samantha Stake (Worcester, Mass.) had the third.

The Lancers will return to the diamond on Friday with a road doubleheader against MCLA on Friday afternoon. First pitches are scheduled for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
