WESTON, Mass. – The Brandeis University women's basketball team concluded its most successful non-conference schedule in more than a decade today as the Judges led wire-to-wire in a 68-50 victory over Regis (Mass.) College. Brandeis improves to 10-1 for the first time since 2008-09, when they started the campaign on a 10-game winning streak and went on to reach the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Pride fall to 6-7.

Brandeis junior forward Jillian Petrie (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough) scored the game's first five points on a lay-up and a 3-pointer and the Judges never looked back. She was one of six different Judges who scored points in the opening period as the Judges opened a 16-8 lead. Brandeis continued their balanced scoring in the second as they outscored the Pride, 20-15, to go ahead 36-23, at the half. Junior Camila Casanueva (Santa Barbara, Calif./Dos Pueblos) led all scorers with nine points, while senior center Hannah Nicholson (Sunderland, Vt./Burr and Burton Academy) and junior transfer guard Courtney Thrun (Regina, Sask. / Wilbraham & Monson Academy) combined for 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The third quarter belong to Nicholson, who scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds, while rookie guard Francesca Marchese (Staten Island, N.Y./Staten Island Academy) netted a pair of 3-pointers as Brandeis extended its lead to 58-44. Scoring was hard to come by in the fourth, as the teams combined for just 6-of-32 from the floor, with the Judges owning a 10-6 advantage to win by the final 68-50 margin.

For the game, the Judges were led by Nicholson, who registered her fifth double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds. It was the 10^th double-double of her career. Her 11 rebounds also moved Nicholson into 10^th place on Brandeis's career list with 517, tied with Sydney Sodine '18. Nicholson hit 7-of-12 from the field and 4-of-5 from the line. Casanueva added 15 points, hitting 5-of-9 overall, 3-of-4 from 3-point range and 2-of-2 from the line. She became the seventh player with 100 career 3-pointers and now is tied with Jaime Capra '09 with 103. Marchese rounded out Brandeis's double-digit scorers, hitting 4-of-6 from beyond the arc for 12 points on her birthday. Marchese outscored the Regis bench by herself, as Brandeis reserves outscored the Pride, 25-5. The Judges finished with 16 assists on 24 baskets, paced by seven helpers from rookie Emma Reavis (Miami, Okla./Deerfield Academy), matching her career-high.

Regis was led by guard Pam Gonzalez, who scored a game-high 21 points. She was 7-of-12 overall, 3-of-7 from downtown and 4-of-5 from the line. She also had eight rebounds and four steals. Forward Katryna Veasey also had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds (4 offensive), but no other Pride player had more than five points. Mackenzie Emery tied for game-high honors with seven assists. Regis forced 20 Brandeis turnovers while committing just 13, but the Judges owned a 16-11 scoring advantage in points off those miscues.

Brandeis returns to action next Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. when they open University Athletic Association play at New York University. Regis opens Great Northeast Athletic Conference play at Albertus Magnus at the same time.
