Men's Tennis Cruises to NCAA Second Round Win over W&L, 5-0

The Emory University men's tennis cruised to a second round victory in the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships on Friday morning, defeating the Washington and Lee University Generals, 5-0, at the WoodPEC in Atlanta.

The Eagles advanced to the third round in quick fashion, dispatching the Generals in two hours flat. Emory opened the match with strong wins on all three doubles courts. Jonathan Jemison and Adrien Bouchet improved to 25-4 overall with a decisive 8-2 win on court one to begin the scoring. James Spaulding and Will Wanner followed suit with the 8-6 victory on court two and on court three, Hayden Cassone and Antonio Mora rounded out the doubles wins, taking the match 8-5.

In singles, Spaulding put the Eagles ahead 4-0 with his 6-2, 6-1 triumph on court six before Bouchet clinched the match with his win on court three. 6-2, 6-3.

Emory, now 18-2 on the year, will face the winner of North Carolina Wesleyan or Sewanee in the regional championship on Saturday beginning at 1:00 PM at the Woodruff PE Center. If the match moves indoors due to weather, the match will begin at approximately 2:30 PM.
