Moore Carries No-Hit Bid into Sixth as Baseball Defeats Brandeis, 11-1, in UAA Opener

The Emory University Baseball program opened the UAA portion of its schedule on a strong note on Friday, defeating Brandeis University, 11-1, after seven innings by virtue of the 10-run rule.

Sophomore Jack Moore went the distance, allowing a single run on three hits and four walks while racking up six strikeouts. The second-year right-hander out of Peachtree City, GA held the visiting Judges without a hit until back-to-back singles with one out in the sixth on his way to his second straight win.

Offensively, seven different Eagles recorded at least one hit with seniors Bubby Terp, Jackson Grayson and junior Richard Brereton registering multi-hit efforts. Terp drove in two runs in a 2-for-4 day including a two-run single as part of Emory's four-run third inning. Brereton had a game-high three hits, adding a hit-by-pitch and stolen base with Grayson chipping in with two singles, a walk and run scored.

With the Eagles in front 9-1 in the seventh, senior Michael Wilson laced a single to right that scooted under the defender's glove, going all the way to wall. Grayson scored easily from third on the play with senior Eric Terry racing around the base paths and scoring the game-clinching run from first on the error.

The two teams continue their four-game weekend set from Chappell Park in Atlanta on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 PM.
