The Emory softball team used a 13-hit attack to come away with a Wednesday evening win at Berry College, closing out a day that saw it post two wins over the Vikings.  After recording a triumph in a resumed game from back in February, the Eagles registered a 9-5 win in the finale, upping its record to 14-4 while No. 13-ranked Berry slipped to 16-5.

Sophomores Natalie Arreguin and Meghan Murphy each knocked in a pair of runs in the nightcap with Arreguin going 2-for-4 at the plate, her seventh multi-hit performance of the season, and Murphy hitting safely once in three at-bats.  Seniors Jenna Wilson and Cassie Baca each chipped in two hits as did Sami Feller who also scored a pair of runs. After pushing across an unearned run in the top of the third, the Eagles kept the pressure on the host Vikings by adding three more runs to the board in the fourth with freshman Mattie Ryan and senior Lana Herrmann coming through with RBI singles and freshman Megan Weisenberg driving in the other run.  The Eagles extended their lead to 9-2 after a four-run burst in the sixth, highlighted by a two-run triple by sophomore Meghan Murphy.  Sophomore pitcher Madison Schaefer earned the win in the circle, her sixth in seven outings, throwing the first six innings and allowing four runs, two of which were earned, and seven hits while striking out five.

In the resumption of the first game that was halted back on Feb. 24 in Atlanta due to darkness, the Eagles added to an existing 3-0 lead by crossing the plate four times in the bottom of the fourth (Emory was the home team).  The Eagles made the most of three of Berry errors during the frame and used a run-producing single by Wilson, a bases-loaded walk to Ryan to aid in the production.  Emory closed out the contest the next inning with Sarah Katz coming through with a one-out, bases-loaded single to plate pinch runner Drew Bullock.  Senior Madeline Maday, the starter in the halted game, picked up where she left off to raise her record to 4-1, going all five innings and allowing three hits while striking out three.

Emory returns to action on Friday (Mar. 29) when it plays the first two of a four-game series against University Athletic Association foe Carnegie Mellon.  Action at the Emory Softball Field starts at 2:00 pm.
