#20 women's tennis shuts out Wheaton College, 9-0

The Brandeis women's tennis team ranked #30 in the nation had little trouble with visiting Wheaton College today, as the Judges defeated the Lyons, 9-0. With the win the Judges improve to 5-4, while the Lyons fall to 1-5.

The Judges were dominant throughout doubles play, going 3-0, as duo of senior Olivia Leavitt (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) and sophomore Lauren Bertsch (Middletown, R.I./LaSalle Academy) got these going at No. 1 with a commanding 8-0 victory. Senior Sophia He (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Spackenkill) and rookie Ana Hatfield (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Central Catholic) secured a victory at No. 3 winning 8-2. Lastly it was the duo of junior Diana Dehterevich (Minsk, Belarus / Secondary School #185 of Minsk) and senior Keren Khromchenko (Manalapan, N.J./Academy of Allied Health and Sciences) who completed the sweep with a 8-2 victory.

The women's team kept it rolling in singles actions, not allowing the Lyons to win a single match, as the Judges would go on to win all six matches. Rookie Hatfield got things going with a 6-2, 6-2, victory at No. 3. Junior Dehterevich claimed a victory at No. 1 winning, 6-3, 7-6, while at No. 2, sophomore Bertsch went on to win 6-2, 6-3. To close thing out, it was senior Michele Lehat (Great Neck , N.Y. / John L. Miller Great Neck North) at No. 4 who won by a score of 8-2, at No. 6 sophomore Isabel Cepeda (Mason, Ohio / William Mason) won by a score of 5-2, and lastly sophomore Rachel Zubrinsky (Waxhaw, N.C. / Marvin Ridge) secured a 8-1 victory, to complete the sweep.

The Judges are back in action against Babson at home on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
