The College of Wooster softball team avenged a pair of losses from Saturday against Case Western Reserve with two wins on Sunday, 10-9 and 4-1.

Game one lasted just under 2-and-a-half hours as the two teams continuously answered one another. However, it was junior Daphne Pate who had the last laugh, coming off the bench with the bases loaded and one out to collect the walk-off single up the middle.

Wooster held a 5-4 lead after five innings but matched Case in the sixth with three runs and the seventh with two runs.

Senior Emmalee Cooke did damage atop the lineup going 4-for-4 with three runs scored, two RBI and a walk. In her first at bat of the game she cleared the center field fence to knot the game 1-1.

Katie Agatucci went 3-for-4 and had a crucial two-out RBI double in the sixth to regain the lead for the Scots.

Heidi Likins went 1-for-2 with two walks and three runs scored. Her lone hit was a solo shot to right field in the fourth.

Wooster tallied 13 hits in the  game.

Senior Marissa Norgrove got the win after striking out the only two batters she saw in the top of the seventh.

Starter Olivia Johnson lasted just 4.1 innings, allowing three earned runs. Rachael Dudziak came in for relief, pitched two inning and also gave up three earned runs.

In game two, Norgrove continued her strong presence on the mound as she picked up another win in game two to improve to 3-1 on the year. She pitched a complete game, allowing just one earned run on five hits and striking out eight.

Cooke had another multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. She also caught two runners stealing playing as the catcher in game two.

In the second inning, first-year Stephanie Griffin tripled to score Heidi Likins to put Wooster on the board. She was later driven home by Anna Norby who doubled to left field.

Wooster put across two more in the fifth as Cooke scored on a wild pitch and Molly Likins scored on a double steal. The Scots collected eight hits in the game.

Wooster improves to 5-3, while Case drops to 10-6. The Scots have a four-game set with Hiram College next weekend as they open divisional play within the NCAC.
