SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Brandeis University sophomore midfielder Jared Panson (West Windsor, N.J./Pennington School) notched his first career three-point game today as the Judges battled Western New England University to a 2-2 draw on the road. Brandeis moves to 3-2-2 on the season, while the Golden Bears are now 5-1-1.

The hosts opened things up in the 10th minute when Chris Manousos successfully converted a penalty kick. Brandeis equalized in the 20th minute when sophomore Michael Burch (Glastonbury, Conn./Suffield Academy) found his classmate with a nice through ball. Panson took a touch and scored his second goal of the season.

Less than two minutes later, the Judges went on top as Panson's rebound landed at the feet of rookie Adam Kulick (Cambridge, Mass./Milton Academy), who blasted it home for his first collegiate goal.

Brandeis took its lead into the second half, but the Golden Bears were able to equalize in the 60th minute, when Connor Prindle's long free kick found the head of Charlie Argyle, who redirected it home.

Both teams had goals negated in the first overtime period, as Brandeis had one waved off for offsides, while the hosts were called for a hand ball on theirs.

Brandeis outshot WNEU, 16-14, with both teams putting seven on net. Judge senior Greg Irwin (Passaic, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) made five stops in goal, while Dylan Husted had four saves for the home team, who also cleared one off the line in the first half.

Brandeis returns to action on Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m.when they head to Wheaton College for the third stop in a four-match road trip.
