#13 Tartan Men Fall to #9 Case Western Reserve

(ORLANDO, Fla.) - The 13th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team played 9th-ranked Case Western Reserve University at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, on Tuesday. The Tartans fell 9-0 to the Spartans and move to 6-4 overall while CWRU moves to 14-1.

The Spartans swept through doubles play with the Tartan pair of sophomore Sam Gibson (Chico, Calif. / Pleasant Valley) and freshman Jonathan Nottingham (Philadelphia, Pa. / Masterman High School) forcing a close match at second doubles, falling 8-6.

Case Western Reserve picked up wins at sixth and fourth singles for the match deciding points. Gibson and senior Robert Levin (Virginia Beach, Va. / Princess Anne) each won the first set of their respective singles matches before falling in third-set tiebreakers.

The Tartans will next face Division I Lehigh University on Wednesday, March 11 in Florida.
