CHICAGO, Ill.- The Macalester College men's soccer team lost to the number two ranked University of Chicago today 2-0.

Despite being out shot 6-2, including a penalty shot saved by senior  keeper Colton Wening (Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin), the Scots were able to stay tied 0-0 with Maroons for most of the first half.  Just seconds before the halftime whistle, first year Ben Wagner (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) had a header bounce off the Chicago crossbar. The teams finished the half with a scoreless tie.

The Scots fell behind quickly in the second half, giving up two goals in the 47th minute, the t thirty seconds apart. The first goal coming just seconds after Wening made his second penalty shot save of the game.

Macalester forced the Maroons to see out the game with a late offensive push including a saved shot taken by junior Webster An (Ann Arbor, Mich./Rudolf Steiner School) in the 82nd minute and a shot by first year Jared Holan (Milwaukee, Wis./Shorewood) blocked by the Maroon defense in the final minute of the game. However, the Scots lost 2-0.

Macalester returns to play away on Sunday, Sept. 1, away at the Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. at 3:00 p.m.
