Tartans Defeat Westminster 2-0 at Home

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team defeated Westminster College, 2-0, on Friday night at home. The Tartans are now 3-2 for the season while the Titans fall to 2-3.

The Tartans put 13 shots on goal for the game with Ezra Cimino making 11 saves. The first goal for the Tartans came in the 15th minute when junior forward Nick Isham (Lansing, Mich. / East Lansing) turned in traffic inside the 18-yard box and got off a left-footed attempt. His shot was low and tough for Cimino to handle as it spun up and over him and into the net for Isham's second goal of the season.

Westminster forced junior Alex Singh (Golden, Colo. / Lakewood) to make two saves in the first half but the Tartan defense withheld the visitors from shots on goal during the final 45 minutes.

Junior Patrick Kollman (Little Silver, N.J. / Christian Brothers Academy) earned the second goal for the Tartans in the 77th minute after a touch pass inside by sophomore Reed Peterson (Mamaroneck, N.Y. / Rye Neck). Kollman one-timed a right-footed shot to the near post after slipping through the defense.

Next up for the Tartans is Allegheny College on Monday, September 16 in Meadville, Pennsylvania. The start is set for 7:30 p.m.
