#23 Emory Baseball Falls at LaGrange College

Four LaGrange College pitchers combined to shut down a red-hot Emory University offense as the Eagles dropped their second game in a row Tuesday evening, falling on the road to LaGrange by a score of 8-1.

The Eagles, which entered the contest ranked 23rd nationally in the latest D3Baseball.com poll, falls to 11-4 overall while the Panthers win their third consecutive and 11th of 12 to move to 12-5 on the season. The two teams will meet again on the diamond Tuesday, March 24th in Atlanta.

Tanner Chafin and the relief corps of Rhett Hebert, Cal Fuller and Spencer Douches held Emory to just one run on four hits in nine innings.

The lone Emory run came in the seventh when junior Caleb Shulman and senior Jacob Greene had back-to-back doubles to lead off the inning off of Fuller. The tandem combined for the team's four hits as both batters went 2-for-4 in the defeat.

Sophomore Bryant Wise was dealt the loss as he surrendered four runs on six hits as he lasted 1.2 innings. Sophomore Ethan Shear and freshman Mike Golob highlighted the Emory pitching staff on the evening, combining for five of the team's six strikeouts in three shutout frames.

The Eagles look to snap their two-game skid Friday night when the team takes on 18th-ranked Birmingham-Southern in the first of two matchups with the BSC Panthers this weekend in Birmingham, AL.
