WALTHAM, Mass. - In the second to last game of the season, the Brandeis Judges baseball team lost 14-3, to the Eastern Connecticut St. Warriors on a cold night at Stein Diamond. The Judges record drops to 16-20, while the Warriors improve to 21-16 on the season.

While the Judges held their own through 4 innings with the score tied 3-3, fielding mistakes would prove to be their undoing. Starter Tim Lopez (Brooklyn, N.Y./ East Side Community) had his best outing of the season, going 3 innings without giving up a run, and holding the ECSU Warriors to only one hit. The gameplan for Head Coach Derek Carlson was to give as many pitchers a chance due to this being the second to last game of the season, and Lopez would be taken out in favor of junior Donnie Weisse III (Swampscott, Mass./ St. Mary's). Weisse would be plagued by errors in the field that culminated in 6 runs on the board for the Warriors. 

Brandeis would answer back in the fourth inning, scoring three runs of their own. The big hit came courtesy of sophomore centerfielder Dan Frey (Ipswich, Mass./ St. John's Prep) who knocked in all 3 runs via a sharp double down the leftfield line. The 3 RBIs pull Frey within 1 of team leader Mike Khoury's (East Bridgewater, Mass./ East Bridgewater) 39 RBIs on the year. Frey and Khoury were the only two Judges to reach base more than once, with Frey going 1-3 with a walk, while Khoury went 2-4, scoring a run on Frey's double. The rest of the Brandeis bullpen saw plenty of action as 7 pitchers entered the game for the Judges, in addition to the 6 that the Warriors brought in.

The Warriors damage was done by second basemen/pitcher Owen Marcia who went 2-3 with 4 RBIs and a walk. Starter Jack Risley got the win, pitching 3.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits. The Judges will wrap up the season on Saturday, May 4th against UMass-Boston at noon on Stein Diamond.
