The College of Wooster men's soccer team took an early lead against Case Western Reserve University on Sunday, but ultimately fell 2-1 in overtime.

In overtime, a cross that was deflected off a Wooster defender ended up at the feet of Matt Vatne whose shot angled toward the right side of the goal and out of reach of Wooster goalkeeper Will Collis.

Collis stayed busy in the net all night with five saves. One highlight was a key diving save off a free kick early in the second half.

Wooster struck first in the seventh minute to set the tone of the game. Following a corner kick, Bennett Anderson had a shot saved, but Connor Hawkins scored off the rebound for his first goal of the season.

Case tied it up in the 21st minute when Rafael Perez sent a header in from the right side of box.

The Spartans outshot the Scots 22-12 and held the corner kick advantage 10-4. Wooster actually outshot the Spartans 9-7 in the first half, but Case took control with an 11-3 shot differential in the second half and a 4-0 overtime.

Case moves to 2-1-1 overall, while Wooster drops to 1-3. Wooster hosts Baldwin Wallace University on Wednesday.
