(WALTHAM, Mass.) - The 13th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team traveled to Brandeis University for its second University Athletic Association (UAA) contest of the season, topping the Judges by a 1-0 score on Saturday, October 8. The Tartans are now 7-1-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the UAA while the Judges move to 6-4-1 and 0-2.
Inside the Box Score
- Sophomore Catherine MacNichol scored the game's only goal in the 29th minute.
- MacNichol's goal came off an assist by freshman Vivian Wang who slipped a left-footed pass through the defense. MacNichol, who was running inside, adjusted her run to beat the defender to the ball as she was going to clear it and slid to put a shot on frame away from the keeper.
- The Tartans had six total shots on frame.
- The defense of senior Rachel Legg, sophomore Avery McGuirt, and sophomore Alana Frederick kept Brandeis away and didn't allow any shots on goal.
- Senior Olivia Brand earned her fifth win of the season and first career shutout.
Notes
- It was the third straight win for the Tartans against Brandeis.
- MacNichol continues to lead the team in scoring and now has eight goals which is tied for third-best in program history by a sophomore.
