Case takes down Beavers 12-3 in six innings

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University softball team fell to Case Reserve for the fifth time this season on Friday, April 23, 2021. Case improved to 21-7 on the year, while Bluffton fell to 6-19 overall.

Lily Tate (Mount Gilead/Northmor) and Sydney Bowen (Convoy/Crestview) crossed the dish in the first inning as Bluffton pulled within 3-2 going to the second, but the Spartans scored in five of the six innings as Case claimed a 12-3 mercy-rule victory on Friday afternoon.

Tate scored twice for the Beavers. Fellow sophomore Erin Norman (Pleasant Hill/Newton) slipped to 3-6 on the season after allowing six runs on six hits in just two innings of work. Case pounded out 17 hits in the single game, while Bluffton finished with five knocks.

The Beavers will travel to Hanover College for a twin-bill with the Panthers on Sunday, April 25. Game one is slated for 2 p.m.
