Top-Ranked Women's Tennis Wins 13th Straight; Defeats No.-7 Tufts, 6-3

Top-ranked Emory University scored a 6-3 victory against No.-7 ranked Tufts University in non-conference action played at Winchester Tennis Club on Friday afternoon in Boston, MA.

The match was moved indoors due to cold weather and the Eagles took advantage, taking two out of three in doubles. Emory closed out the match, winning the first three matches to finish in singles clinching the victory to improve to a perfect 13-0 this season while Tufts dropped to 3-5.

Freshmen Emma Cartledge and Jessica Fatemi recorded an 8-2 win on court two with freshman Christina Watson and sophomore Stephanie Taylor posting the 8-4 win on court three to give Emory the 2-1 lead heading into singles.

Sophomore Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico defeated Maggie Dorr 6-3, 6-1 at first singles to give Emory a 3-1 advantage before Cartledge won 6-2, 6-0 at fourth singles and Fatemi turning in the 6-3, 6-1 win at fifth singles to seal the victory. Freshman Lauren Yoon notched the other singles win, picking up the 6-1, 6-3 decision on court three.

Emory will continue its New England weekend road trip Sunday at fifth-ranked Middlebury with first serve set for 8:30 AM.
