Softball drops game at Washington-St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The softball team played Washington-St. Louis in one of the two originally scheduled Tuesday games and lost 8-3.

The Panthers fell behind 1-0 in the bottom of the second, but Greenville took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third with a two-run homer by Desirae Yost.

WashU tied the game in the bottom of the third, added a run in the bottom of the fourth, and tallied four in the fifth.

Greenville scored a seventh inning run when a two-out error on WashU's third baseman allowed Hayley Jenkins to score.

Jaclyn Belzer, Yost, Hannah Hoffmann, Jenkins, and Katie Myers all had a hit for GU.

Maegan Stone pitched all six innings, permitting eight runs, six earned, on 12 hits with three strikeouts.

The Panthers (4-9) travel to Iowa for a doubleheader on Thursday against Central College.
