(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team hosted a first round game in the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship and soared to a 6-0 victory after a second-half goal-scoring spree to top Bryn Athyn for the program's 11th home win in the NCAA tournament. The Tartans are now 13-2-2 for the season while Bryn Athyn closed the year at 14-3-1.
Inside The Box Score
- Junior Sarah Scoles recorded the game-winning goal in the 37th minute with her first score of the season off an unassisted play. Scoles moved around a defender inside the corner of the 18-yard box and fired a shot to the far post that hit the inside of the bar before crossing the goal line.
- Senior Alex Adams recorded two goals late in the game and became the program's career leader in goals scored with 36 after tallying her ninth and 10th of the season.
- Junior Cecelia Dieterich put in her fourth goal of the season in the 63rd minute to give the Tartans a 2-0 lead before sophomore Emma Shirzad added to the lead with a strike in the 80th minute.
- The last goal of the game was scored by sophomore Catherine MacNichol in the 88th minute.
