Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Athletic Communications

Emory's Strong Shooting Hands CC a 77-49 Loss

Emory University used a stifling offensive effort to defeat the Colorado College women's basketball team, 77-49, during the Emory Holiday Inn Tip Off Classic in Atlanta, Ga., on Sunday afternoon.

The Eagles went 32-for-55 from the floor for a 58.3 field-goal percentage, and shot 54.5% from long range on 6-of-11 shooting.

Blair Ripley scored the first points 14 seconds into the game off of a jumper, which helped spark an 18-5 run to hand Emory an early lead that it would not relinquish.

Senior guard Jordan Meltzer and junior guard McKenzee Gertz led the Tigers with 10 points apiece.

Gertz cut Emory's lead to seven points on a 3-pointer with two minutes left in the first quarter, but that would be as close as CC would get as the Eagles rattled off a 12-0 run to hold a 33-14 lead at 9:23 in the second quarter.

Emory (3-0) remained undefeated this season led by a game-high 16 points by Ripley. The junior center also led all players with eight rebounds. The Tigers slipped to 0-3 on the season.

Colorado College Notes
Mia Thurber finished the game with eight points.
Nia Duplain and Izzy Hensley led CC with six rebounds each.
The Tigers shot 31.5 percent (17-54) from the field and 32 percent (8-25) from three-point range.

Emory Notes
Erin Lindahl scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Anna Arato added 12 points and six rebounds.
Molley Weiss and Allison Chernow finished the game in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Eagles forced 19 turnovers.

Next for the Tigers
The Tigers return home to take on Nebraska Wesleyan University on Nov. 22 at 5:30 p.m. and Denison University on Nov. 23.
