BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport volleyball team opened up the weekend strong with a dominating 3-0 win over the University of Rochester Friday night. The Golden Eagles collective effort on the court allowed them to command all three sets, improving their overall record to 4-6, with two games left in the tournament.
The Green and Gold set the momentum right from the beginning, quickly pressuring the YellowJackets defensive effort allowing them to run away with the set 25-13. The team settled into home court advantage nicely, notching a .355 hitting percentage and 13 kills.
The trend continued into the second set as the Golden Eagles posted 15 kills, their highest collection of the night. The YellowJackets put up a fight towards the end of the set however, the Green and Gold's offense was able to string enough a number of successful plays in order to secure the 27-25 win. With two wins under their belt, the Golden Eagles entered set three determined to close out the night on a high note. Despite trading points with the YellowJackets for most of the first half, the Green and Gold posted another 13 kills in set three to grab the win. 25-18.
Once again, the Golden Eagles dominated in each of the six categories, the most dominant differences being in points differential (56-36), kills (41-26), assists (41-24) and digs (51-36).

Lindsey Luce were the offensive power for the Green and Gold, posting 14 and 10 kills respectively. Luce also amassed an impressing hitting percentage, pushing .556 overall with 10 kills in 18 total attempts.
Kerri McHale's ability to put her teammates in good scoring positions proved evident as the sophomore recorded 20 assists and 10 digs.
The Golden Eagles are back in action tomorrow for day two of the Brockport Invite where they will face Hamilton College at 11:30 a.m. followed by Ithaca College at 2 p.m. to close out the weekend.
