Spindler Notches 50th Career Singles Win As Vikings Sweep Binghamton & Case Western

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Isabella Spindler picked up a pair of wins at No. 1 singles to reach the 50-win milestone, as she helped the Cleveland State women's tennis team pick up a pair of 7-0 sweeps against Binghamton and Case Western at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion on Sunday.

· Isabella Spindler became the 15th Viking all-time to notch 50 career singles wins Sunday, as she posted a pair of wins at No. 1 singles against Binghamton and Case Western.

· Cleveland State swept all six doubles matches on the day, including Kateryna Avram and Klara Mrcela picking up their team-leading third and fourth wins of the spring at No. 1 doubles. For the season, Avram and Mrcela are tied for the team-lead with 11 doubles wins.

· Gaby Schoenberg became the second Viking to reach double-digit singles wins this year, notching her ninth and 10th victories against Binghamton and Case Western.

· Following a win at No. 6 singles against Binghamton and a win at the No. 5 spot against Case Western, Kateryna Avram has a team-best 13 singles wins on the year.

· The Cleveland State trio of Kateryna Avram, Siân Payne and Gaby Schoenberg now all have a team-best six singles wins this spring.

· Blanche Lenoan appeared in the singles lineup for the first time this spring against Case Western, picking up a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles.

· The 7-0 sweep over Binghamton in the first match of the day marked the first win for the Vikings against the Bearcats.

· Cleveland State now stands at 5-0 against Case Western following the 7-0 victory in the nightcap.

"We came out playing very strong in both matches today, and took care of business to get back in the win column. In both matches, we were able to play some strong doubles, which led to us getting out to quick starts in singles. The team has really been battling in matches lately, and it's nice for them to pick up a couple of wins and head into another week of practice feeling refreshed and ready to go." – Head Coach Frank Polito
