No. 7 Tartans Sweep No. 25 Denison for Seventh Win

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team topped 25th-ranked Denison University 9-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford, Pennsylvania, for its seventh win of the season.

The Tartans, now 7-1, swept doubles play with the combo of sophomore Lindy Cornwall (Poway, Calif. / Poway) and senior Vinaya Rao (Vernon Hills, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) winning first by an 8-3 score in the second position. Sophomore Janabelle Wu (San Jose, Calif. / Lynbrook) and freshman Bin Zheng (Miami, Fla. / Doral Academy) were second to finish and won by the same 8-3 score at third doubles before senior Courtney Ollis (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern) and sophomore Danna Taylor (Orlando, Fla. / Circle Christian School) were victorious at first doubles, 8-6.

Zheng won her third singles match by a 7-5, 6-0 score to give the Tartans a 4-0 lead. Taylor clinched the match at first singles with a 6-2, 7-5 win before Rao won at second singles, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

The Tartans will next face 34th-ranked Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, February 22 on the road at 10:00 a.m.
