Georgia Gwinnett Defeats Emory Women's Tennis in Home Finale

The Emory University women's tennis team fell to Georgia Gwinnett College, 7-2, in the regular season finale at the Woodruff PE Center courts Wednesday afternoon.

The Eagles fall to 14-3 on the season and will return to the courts next Thursday for the opening round of the University Athletic Association Championships in Altamonte Springs, FL. The three-time defending NAIA champion Grizzlies improved to 14-1 with the win.

Sophomore Stephanie Taylor and Christina Watson won their third straight and improved to 14-1 at third doubles as the duo collected the lone doubles point for the Eagles, winning 8-3.

In singles, GGC picked up wins on courts one, three and six before freshman Jessica Fatemi recorded a three set victory on court four, defeating her opponent 1-6, 6-3, 6-0 for her 20th singles win of the season.

Georgia Gwinnett closed out the match with three set wins over senior Daniela Lopez on court two (3-6, 6-2, 6-2) and freshman Emma Cartledge on court five (6-7, 7-6, 6-10).
