Late Goal Lifts Tartans at Home Against Emory on Senior Day

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team evened its University Athletic Association (UAA) record at 2-2 with a 1-0 victory at home against Emory University on Sunday, October 20. A late second-half goal lifted the Tartans to their second straight win and moved their overall mark to 6-6-1. The Eagles fall to 7-5-2, 1-2-1.

Senior defensive back Jacob Moskowitz (Wilmette, Ill. / New Trier Township) scored the game winner in the 84th minute with a header that just got over the line before Emory's keeper, Max Carlson, could swat it away. The header came off a service by senior Elliot Cohen (Solana Beach, Calif. / Canyon Crest Academy) after a free kick was awarded just outside the 18-yard box on the right side of the field.

The Eagles put a shot on goal in the 14th minute that junior Alex Singh (Golden, Colo. / Lakewood) stopped before having to play a man down for the final 67 minutes due to a red card given to an Emory player for persistent fouling. The Tartans managed only one shot in the first half that was sent high by junior Jordi Long (Silver Spring, Md. / Montgomery Blair), while the Eagles put another three on frame for Singh to stop.

The Tartans fired off five shots on target in the second half before Moskowitz was able to tally his first goal of the season.

The Tartans will be off two weeks before traveling to St. Louis, Missouri, to face Washington University on Friday, November 1 at 8:00 p.m. CT.
