ALFRED, N.Y. – The women's soccer team came up with another key play late and defeated Smith College of Massachusetts, 1-0, in the Alfred University Soccer Tournament on Sunday afternoon.

It was the second straight day of late-game heroics for the Yellowjackets who improved to 2-0. Smith, which defeated host Alfred on Saturday with a dominating defensive performance, is 1-1.

Emily Henry was the goalscorer this time. Rochester earned a corner kick as the clock entered the 87th minute in a 0-0 game. Sophomore

Meghan Martin pushed it across the goalmouth and Henry was there to touch it into the net.

Rochester held a 21-8 advantage in overall shots and put 12 shots on goal. Smith put five shots on goal. UR goalie
Madilynne Lee made five saves. Smith's Shelby Hall stopped 11 shots.

On Saturday,
Paige Gloster scored midway through the first sudden death overtime period to give Rochester a 2-1 victory over SUNY New Paltz.
Hannah Wadsworth scored in the 10th minute to tie the game at 1-1 after a third-minute goal from New Paltz.

Rochester makes its Fauver Stadium debut on Wednesday against Keuka College. It's the first of three straight home games in a span of five calendar days for the Yellowjackets. UR plays Keuka on Wednesday (7 pm), Union College on Saturday (2 pm), and Alfred State College on Sunday at 2 pm.
