The Emory University women's tennis team dropped a home match to nationally-ranked Division II Columbus State University Sunday afternoon in Atlanta.

The Eagles and Cougars had three tightly contested matches in doubles to open play on Sunday with CSU winning on two courts. Freshman Eliza McPherron and senior Jessica Fatemi evened the match at 1-1 with their 8-6 win on court three before CSU topped senior Emma Cartledge and junior Stephanie Shulman in a tiebreak, 8-7 (9), at the second position.

In singles, the Cougars were winners in five of the six matches with all coming in straight sets. Shulman highlighted the Eagles on court four, winning her match in three sets 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 to provide the 7-2 final score.

Emory is back in action next Sunday at Sewanee before returning home for two matches the first weekend in April.
