#13 Tartans Conclude Spring Break Trip

(ORLANDO, Fla.) - The 13th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team concluded its spring break trip in Orlando, Florida with a 9-0 setback to Division I Lehigh University on Wednesday. The Tartans move to 6-5 overall while Lehigh evens its mark at 5-5.

The Mountain Hawks took the doubles points winning all three matches, but the Tartan pair of senior Robert Levin (Virginia Beach, Va. / Princess Anne) and junior Ray Boppana (Boxborough, Mass. / Acton Boxborough Regional) played a close match at third doubles, falling 8-5.

In singles play, Boppana played at the top spot and sophomore Sam Gibson (Chico, Calif. / Pleasant Valley) played number two with both going three sets. Boppana won his first set before dropping 6-4 in the second and 6-1 in the third. Gibson fell 6-3 in his first set and then won 7-5 in the second to force a third before losing 6-1.

The Tartans will be idle until April 4 when the travel to Fredericksburg, Virginia for a 1:00 p.m. match with the Eagles of the University of Mary Washington.
