Boxscore

The Emory softball team ran its win streak to three games with a Tuesday afternoon win over the University of Rochester.  The Eagles boosted their overall record to 5-3 after rolling to a 10-1 victory in five innings over the Yellowjackets who fell to 1-7.

Sophomore Meghan Murphy was one of the offensive stars for the Eagles, going 3-for-3 at the plate with a pair of runs scored and two RBIs. Freshman Baylee Walls hit safely twice in three plate appearances and finished with four RBIs.  Junior Sarah Katz and sophomore Greta Wilker each came through with two hits as well.

The Eagles got out of the blocks early, putting up five runs in the bottom of the first. An infield hit by Murphy scored Natalie Arreguin with the second run of the frame while bases-loaded walks to Sami Feller and Krista Colussi allowed two more runs to cross the plate.  Emory added to its advantage the following inning when a one-out single by Murphy plated Katz, who opened the frame with a walk.  Emory continued its offensive blitz with a four-run fourth, highlighted by a bases-loaded triple by Walls who then scored herself following a three-base hit by senior Cassie Baca.  Senior pitcher Madeline Maday evened her record at 1-1 after going all five innings and allowing just two hits while striking out two.

Emory returns to action on Wednesday (Mar. 13) when it hosts a doubleheader vs. Emory and Henry starting at noon.
