The New York University women's basketball team returned to action and produced a 99-18 victory over Sarah Lawrence College in the first round of the NYU Tip-Off Classic on Saturday, November 16, at the Sportsplex in Manhattan.
The Violets jumped out to an early 15-4 lead, and never led by less than 11 points the rest of the way in capturing their third straight victory.
"I think we showed our defensive identity today and that was the real focus of the game," said Head CoachÂ
Meg Barber. "We had a lot of contributions all around the stats sheet, from upperclassmen and newcomers as well as the bench which showed that everyone stayed involved in the game from start to finish."
NYU led 34-4 after the first quarter and 61-6 at halftime.
Janean Cuffee (New York, NY/The Lawrenceville School) led the way for the Violets over the game's first 20 minutes, scoring 11 points on an efficient 5-of-9 from the field.Â
Lauren Koyama (Palo Alto, CA/Palo Alto) had 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field.  Â

"She's (Walker) a work in progress and the thing that's a delight about her is that she wants to get better," Barber said. "Jenny is extremely competitive and motivated to be one of the top players in this program.Â
Meghan McLaughlin (Mount Laurel, NJ/Bishop Eustace Prep) tabbed a season-high 10 rebounds in the win.Â
