Wentworth Pitching Leaders:  Brodi Farinas ((L, 2-1), 3 IP, 3 K); Jeff Rodden (3 IP)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Brandeis loaded the bases on the first three batters of the bottom of the first inning, thanks to a hit by pitch and two walks. Frey put the hosts on the board with a two-run double. • A solo home run from graduate student Luke Hall (Georgetown, Mass.) in the fifth inning put Brandeis ahead, 5-0. Wentworth threatened in the top of the six as senior Nolan Freeman (Braintree, Mass.) led off reaching on an error and with two outs went to third on a freshman Nick McGourthy (Middleboro, Mass.) single. However, a lineout ended the threat. The Judges tacked on two in the bottom of the inning on an RBI double from graduate student Mike Khoury (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and an RBI single from Hall.
  • Senior Liam Kennedy (Norwell, Mass.) drove home a run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh, while Frey and junior Brian King (Palos Verde, Calif.) each drove home runs in the eighth.
  • Senior Justin Kirst (Boston, N.Y.) went 3-for-4 while five other Leopards collected single hits. Sophomore Brodi Farinas (Lewiston, Maine) suffered the loss (2-1), allowing three runs on three hits and struck out a par in three innings of action.
