Last Second Goal Gives Men's Soccer OT Stunner Over No.-24 UT-Dallas

Freshman Madison Conduah's header goal with two seconds remaining in the first overtime period lifted the Emory University men's soccer team to the 2-1 victory over No.-24 University of Texas-Dallas Sunday afternoon in Richardson, TX.

With the clock dwindling down in the first overtime period, freshman Alejandro Gomez ripped a screaming centering pass inside the box where Conduah redirected it into the back of the net to give the Eagles the overtime stunner. With the win, Emory moved to 3-3-1 on the year while the Comets dropped to 6-2.

The game-winner was Conduah's second goal of the match as his first collegiate marker came late in the second half as he tied the score at 1-1 at the 71:28-minute mark. Sophomore Ethan Cohen sent a touch pass out wide right to Conduah where he slotted home to the far post.

UTD opened the scoring early during the first stanza as Alfredo Kaegi danced around an Eagle defender on the end line before finding Jessa Ardilla in the middle of the 18 where he one-time the feed to the left post.

The Comets looked to have a strong scoring opportunity in the final minutes of regulation as Jordan Henderson had a 1-on-1 chance but a superb diving one-handed stop by sophomore Max Carlson kept the game knotted at one goal apiece.

For the match, UT-Dallas narrowly edged out the Eagles 13-12 in shots and 4-3 in shots on goal. Carlson made a total of three saves as he recorded his second straight win between the posts.

Emory returns the field Wednesday evening with a non-conference matchup on the road against the Sewanee Tigers. Kickoff at Sewanee is slated for 7:30 PM EST.
