The No. 14 ranked Emory University men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to nine games Wednesday night, scoring a season-high three goals in a win over Piedmont University in Demorest, GA.

The Eagles bested the Lions 3-1 in the final non-conference game of the regular season, improving their record to 8-1-4 while Piedmont slipped to 6-9.

Seniors Charlie Scruton and Matt Engler gave Emory a first-half cushion with goals mid-way through the opening half with sophomore Jake Atallah notching an insurance goal in the second half to clinch the win.

Scruton found the back of the net for the second straight game as he opened the scoring for both sides in the 27th minute. Scruton recorded his team-leading fourth goal of the season as he headed in a Matthew Tanzer free kick.

Engler padded tehe Eagles lead with his second goal of the season as he fired home a shot after a double deflection off the feet of senior Jae Ahn and junior Zach Kornblum in the 35th minute.

Attalah gave Emory a three-goal lead with his first collegiate marker in the 58th minute as he floated in a shot over the Piedmont keeper from close range.
