ALFRED, NY – Paige Gloster scored in a goalmouth scramble midway through the first sudden death overtime period to give Rochester a 2-1 women's soccer victory over SUNY New Paltz on Saturday afternoon.
 
Hannah Wadsworth scored an early first half equalizer for the Yellowjackets. Her goal came at 9:39. New Paltz took a 1-0 lead with the match just 2:30 old. Danielle Grossi scored on a pass from Jackie D.Hawkins.
 
Rochester pressured in the OT. Jorie Freitag's sizzling shot was saved by NP keeper Megan Tornatore. The ball popped free. Gloster got to it quickly and turned it into the net for the gamewinner at 95:56.
 
Madilynne Lee made three saves on nine New Paltz shots. Tornatore had four saves on a dozen Rochester shots. The Yellowjackets held an 8-3 edge in corner kicks.
 
The game is part of the Alfred University tournament. On Sunday, Rochester will play Smith College of Massachusetts at 12 noon (pre-determined matchups). Smith defeated host Alfred, 2-0, on Saturday.
 
Rochester will make its home debut on Wednesday against Keuka College at 7 pm in Fauver Stadium.
