The No. 6-ranked Washington University in St. Louis baseball team snapped a two-game losing skid with a 7-0 win over Dickinson College Wednesday at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational in Winter Haven, Fla.
WashU improved to 9-3 with the win, while Dickinson dropped to 6-6.
Senior Matt Ashbaugh (3-0) picked up the win allowing three hits with five strikeouts. Junior Tim Tague (1 IP, 1 K) and senior Daniel Broadie (1 IP, 1 K) preserved the Bears fourth shutout of the season.
Sophomore Brendan Hall went 2-for-2 with three RBI, while sophomore Caleb Durbin (2-for-5, two runs, 3B) and junior Sean Robinson (2-for-3, two runs) also had multi-hit games for WashU. The Bears had eight hits in the win.
WashU led 1-0 after five innings as the two teams combined for just three hits.
In the sixth, sophomore Zac Styka drove in a run with a single, and then Hall pushed across two runs with a single.
Hall and junior Ty Dalinghaus each added an RBI in the eighth, and senior John Brinkman added a sacrifice fly in the ninth to round out the scoring.
NOTES:
• Brinkman moved into a tie for 10th place in school history in hits (180).
