The Washington University in St. Louis head baseball coach Pat Bloom was named the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/ATEC Central Region Coach of the Year, as announced by the association.
He led the Bears to their first World Series appearance and the 34 wins on the season ties the program record. Four student-athletes earned All-Region honors, three were named All-America and three others were selected to the World Series All-Tournament Team for their performances during the season.
Bloom owns a 158-58-1 (.730) record with three University Athletic Association (UAA) titles and four NCAA postseason appearances in six seasons at the helm of the program.
He was also named the D3baseball.com Central Region Coach of the Year on June 2.
The ABCA/ATEC Coaches of the Year are selected in all nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division and high school. Coaches of the Year are selected by members of the ABCA All-America and Coach of the Year Committees.
The ABCA/ATEC National and Regional Coaches of the Year will be honored on Friday, Jan. 7, 2022 in the main clinic hall prior to the start of clinics at the 78th annual ABCA Convention.
