Former Emory Baseball Standouts Jackson Weeg and Kyle Monk Named to D3Baseball.com's All-Decade Team

From Emory University Athletics

Former Emory University baseball standouts Jackson Weeg and Kyle Monk were recognized among some of the best players from the past decade by D3Baseball.com as the website announced its 2010's All-Decade Team earlier this month. Both players were tabbed as Honorable Mentions.

The list includes 82 total players which were assembled from the roster of All-Americans, All-Region and record setting players who played at least two years during the 2010-2020 time period. To check out all of the selections, please click here.

The Eagle stars, both of whom competed on the diamond from 2014 through 2017, were instrumental in powering Emory to four straight NCAA postseason appearances (only time in team history with four consecutive NCAA postseasons), three straight trips to the College World Series (2014-16) and reached the national championship game in 2014. They helped the Eagles to an overall record of 130-54, collected a pair of University Athletic Association championships in 2014 and 2015 and lifted the team to its first-ever No.-1 ranking in the D3Baseball.com national poll in 2017.

Weeg, a presence at the top of the Emory rotation all four seasons, compiled a win-loss ledger of 27-10 with 305 strikeouts and a 2.53 earned run average in 327.1 innings. His 305 strikeouts placed him second on the all-time list in Emory history, one of seven school records Jackson finished his career among the top-5 in. He ended his career as the program leader in most pick offs (24), tied for second in games started (47), third in innings pitched, tied for fifth in career victories and is the only Emory pitcher to rank in the top-three in most strikeouts, ground outs and fly outs.

Furthermore, Jackson still holds the single-game strikeouts record after striking out 18 Washington & Lee Generals in a start during his senior year. His list of accolades also includes a 2015 D3Baseball.com All-America Third Team award, two Preseason All-American selections as well as two D3Baseball.com, ABCA All-Region and All-UAA honors.

Monk was equally impressive as a catalyst of the Emory bullpen for his four seasons, finishing as the program's all-time leader and 5th in NCAA Division III history with 34 saves at the time of his graduation. In addition to his saves record, Kyle currently tops the Emory record books in most appearances (94), most games finished (75) and combined shutouts (6) while going 19-9 with a 3.23 earned run average. He placed 11th on the career strikeouts list with 163 and 12th in career victories. He was a D3Baseball.com Preseason All-American in 2017, tabbed as a D3Baseball.com All-America Honorable Mention in 2016, a three-time All-UAA selection and a two-time All-South Region honoree by both D3Baseball.com and ABCA as a sophomore and junior.

His excellence extended beyond the playing field as Monk was a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team selection, the first-ever recipient of the NCAA Elite 90 Award in Emory Athletics history as a junior and was a recipient of the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship following his career.
