UAA Conversations About Race and Racism: Cameron Brown

UAA Conversations About Race and Racism: Cameron Brown

Cameron Brown is a 2020 graduate of Case Western Reserve University. He was the final UAA Football Defensive Player of the Year in 2018 (the UAA no longer names an All-Association team in football) and broke the Spartans’ all-time sacks record with 34.5. He broke the single-season program record in 2018 with 15 sacks, finishing second in NCAA Division III with 1.5 sacks per game.

The UAA “Conversations About Race and Racism” series seeks to lift the voices of people of color and recognize the challenges faced in both athletics and academics at the collegiate level. By sharing personal stories, we hope to elevate the conversation about race to raise awareness and bring about change.

Unique Upbringing

Brown’s childhood was significantly different than that of most students. He grew up in Cleveland, moved to Los Angeles, and then returned to Cleveland as his father Mike Brown served as head coach of the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers (twice) and Los Angeles Lakers.
