The No. 6-ranked Emory University men's basketball team has been named the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III Team of the Week for games played Jan. 27-Feb. 2.
Emory was one of five schools to receive the award joining Mercer (Division I), Illinois-Springfield (Division II), Lewis-Clark-State (NAIA) and Grayson College (NJCAA/Two-Year Colleges).
The Eagles of Head Coach Jason Zimmerman posted back-to-back road wins by double-digit margins last week to move into a tie atop the University Athletic Association standings. Emory got its week started with an 83-66 win at Chicago on Friday, followed by an 80-67 victory at 11th-ranked Washington on Sunday. Emory used a strong defensive effort in both encounters, holding Chicago to 39.7 percent from the field and Wash U to 30.3 percent. It represented the third time in school history that Emory had posted a sweep of that particular road trip.
The Eagles are now 16-2 overall (program's second-best 18-game record in history) and 6-1 in the conference.
