Emory Tied For Second After Two Rounds At Golfweek DIII Invitational

The Emory University men's golf team continued play on Monday at the Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational.  The 54-hole tournament is being played on the 6,725-yard, par-71 Raven Golf Club in Sandestin, Florida.

The Eagles finished their second round shooting a one-under par 283, leaving them with a two-day score of five-under 563, good for a second-place tie with Huntingdon College in the 18-team field. Leading the pack is Illinois Wesleyan who fired nine-under 275, leaving the Titans with a four-stroke cushion heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes. Hampden-Sydney and Methodist University are deadlocked for the No. 4 spot at 571.

Senior Matt Organisak led the Emory's Monday scoring effort with a three-under par 68, a round that featured four birdies and one bogey. Sophomore Max Schwarz was the other Eagle to break par after carding a one-under 70, the fifth time in eight rounds this fall he had shot par or better. Junior Eric Yiu (72) and senior Sam Galloway (73) accounted for the rest of the team's scoring.  Sophomore Logan Ryan turned in a 75.

Through two rounds Emory has three players among the top 10 with Organisak leading the way at five-under 137, good for fifth place out of 90 entries.  Schwarz is tied for sixth on the leader board at 138 while Yiu's mark of two-under 140 is good for an eighth-place tie.  Galloway (148) and Ryan (151) are tied for 43rd and 65th, respectively.
