Dan Rodgers of Carnegie Mellon Named Finalist for NCAA Division III Dave Williams Award

Carnegie Mellon University men's golf coach Dan Rodgers has been selected as a NCAA Division III finalist for the Dave Williams Award presented by Golf Pride Grips as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Friday afternoon. The Williams Award honors the men's national coach of the year in NCAA Division III men's golf. This honor comes shortly after Rodgers was named Women's Division III Coach of the Year.

Rodgers joins four other finalists which included Bom Jollymour of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Jim Ott of Illinois Wesleyan, Dave Schreyer of Huntingdon and John Sjoberg of Emory.

Rodgers coached the Tartans to the highest final ranking in program history of fourth nationally when the final rankings were released at the beginning of April and finished with an average team score of 290.29. The Tartans ended the shortened season with a top-place finish at the 18-team, 54-hole Savannah Invitational, which was played on the par 72, 6,845-yard The Club at Savannah Harbor Golf Course. The Cardinal and Gray broke two school records in Savannah, as they carded a 31-under par (833) for the invitational and shot a 19-under par (269) during the final round.

The Tartans also won the final invitational of the fall season, which was the 22-team O'Briant-Jensen Memorial that was played on the par 71, 6,743-yard The Cardinal by Pete Dye Course in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Rodgers coached a school-best four players to all-region recognition. Three golfers received All-America honors, also a program best, with one repeating as a PING First Team All-American in Jason Li.
