Washington University in St. Louis senior Ethan Hillis had his season end in the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Singles Championships Saturday at the Champions Tennis Center.

Hillis opened the day with a win over Marcos Dias of Southern Virginia in the semifinal to advance to the Final Four. He opened the match with a 7-6(5) tiebreaker loss before storming back to win the next two sets 6-1 and 6-2.

The tournament's top seed, Hillis struggled to solve No. 5 seed Boris Sorkin of Tufts in the semifinal, eventually suffering his first singles loss of the season. Sorkin sped past Hillis 6-1 in the opening set before Hillis put up a tough battle in a 7-5 loss in Set 2.

Hillis's performance in the tournament earned him the third ITA All-America singles honor of his career. He finished his senior season with a 17-1 record in singles and a 15-0 mark in doubles play. His career record stands at 55-11 in singles and 35-15 in doubles.

Hillis will return for another season of competition in 2021-22.
