Bernardo Neves, a 2020 graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, was selected as a 2021 Today's Top 10 Award winner as announced by the NCAA.

The award recognizes former student-athletes from all divisions for their successes on the field, in the classroom and in the community. All 10 winners of the 2021 award will be recognized on Jan. 13 at 6 p.m. during a virtual Honors Celebration, which will be streamed on the NCAA Twitter account and on the ESPN app.

Neves is the latest addition to WashU honorees as the Bears have had five recipients of the honor in the past six years, including multiple selections in 2018. The previous honorees include: Amy Albers (1995, volleyball), Alia Fisher (2001, women's basketball), Elizabeth Phillips (2013, women's cross country/track), Lucy Cheadle (2016, women's cross country/track), Lizzy Crist (2018, women's soccer), Deko Ricketts (2018, men's track & field) and Alison Lindsay (2019, women's cross country/track).

"It's been a complete honor and privilege to have had Bernardo Neves in our men's tennis program. Whether he had gotten three hours of sleep from studying so late or we were on the road all day traveling, you never had to worry about him giving anything less than his best effort," said head coach Roger Follmer.

He continued, "He encompassed several great qualities including being a consummate team player, respect from his peers on the court, never having an excuse and always battling for the Bears. His consistent work ethic and leadership for four straight years on and off the courts earned him this prestigious award."
