Alexander Scott of UChicago Earns All-American Status in Discus on First Day of NCAA Outdoors

Alexander Scott's All-American placement in the discus led the University of Chicago men's track & field results on day one of the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships on Thursday.

The morning session featured the men's discus as the second event of the day. Scott came in as the sixth seed in the event in his first career NCAA discus appearance. The fifth-year senior's third throw of the day was his best, traveling 48.45 meters. That mark ultimately captured fifth place for a spot on the podium and All-American status. Scott was previously a 2020 All-American in the indoor shot put.

The final event of the night was the men's 10,000 meters. Senior Ryan Cutter crossed the finish line in a time of 31:10.32. He took 12th place overall.
