Three Bears and 1,600-Meter Relay Advance to Finals at NCAA Championship

The Washington University in St. Louis men's track & field team had six individuals compete in day one of the NCAA Division III Track & Field Outdoor Championships.

First-year Will Houser and junior Jacob Ridderhoff were the first Bears to compete, finishing third and sixth in heat two of the 1500-meter run with times of 3:51.31 and 3:51.63, respectively. They will compete in Saturday's final with the fifth and 10th fastest seed times. 

Junior Andrew Whitaker had an outstanding race in the 400-meter hurdles, cutting 0.60 seconds off of his season-best time. He qualifies for finals in seventh-place with his 52.93.

Senior Andrew Whitaker, sophomore Marcus-Jay Wilkes, first-year Alex Djetto and senior John Harry Wagner ran away with the first heat of the 4x400-meter relay, clocking a 3:11.28. They qualify for the finals in the last event of the championships just 0.16 seconds behind the top-seeded team.
