Violets Conclude Day One of UAA Championship

The New York University's men and women's track & field teams concluded day one of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of Chicago on Saturday, April 22.

Both the men and women's teams are in seventh place after today's competition. The men have earned nine points while the women have earned seven.

Aidin Hasan placed third in the 10k scoring six points for the Violets and achieving a new personal best of 30:52.87.

Later in the day Zion Glover qualified for both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash finals. Glover crossed the line in 10.98 finishing fourth in the 100 and posted a 22.74 clinching the eighth spot heading into tomorrow.

Fiona Kelleher punched a ticket to the finals with an eighth-place 1:08.63 finish in the prelims while Jon Diaz finished the 800-meter run in 1:53.14 heading into the finals tomorrow.

Lola Akindele and Mackenzie Richard set new personal bests in the 400-meter dash and the 400-meter hurdles, respectively. Akindele posted a 1:00.09 finish and Richard clocked in at 1:09.07.

Both the men and women's 4x800-meter relay teams placed sixth. The men's team comprised of Aleksander JopekJorge RochaAndrew Taylor, and William Pelech recorded a time of 8:11.15 and the women's team consisting of Aminata JohnsonJanie CooperEstelle Gladden, and Sophie Carissimo finished in 9:48.71.

Kate Walsh also took sixth with a 5.16m mark in the long jump.
