From Emory University Athletics

Emory University junior Liam Fost was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District team for men's track & field and cross country as announced by the organization Friday afternoon.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.

This marks the first career Academic All-District honor for Fost, a standout for the Eagles' track & field team for the past three seasons. Last year marked a banner campaign for the North Caldwell, NJ native as he captured the University Athletic Association championship in both the indoor and outdoor 400m Dash, was named the USTFCCCA South/Southeast Region Track Athlete of the Year and represented the Eagles at the indoor and outdoor NCAA Division III Championships, placing 11th in the indoor 400m and 10th in the outdoor 400m. At the outdoor UAA Championships, Fost broke the 400m conference record with his winning time of 47.19.

In addition to his 2019 accomplishments, Fost finished third in the 400m at the 2020 UAA Indoor Championships, giving him his third UAA podium finish of his career. Fost also made an appearance on the USTFCCCA South/Southeast All-Region team released in March, his third-ever All-Region selection.

Furthermore, as a Biology major carrying a 3.60 grade-point average, Fost has been selected to the winter and spring UAA All-Academic Teams each of the last two seasons.

Fost will now be placed on the national ballot for a chance to be named an Academic All-American. The CoSIDA Academic All-America Cross Country/Track & Field Division III teams will be announced on Tuesday, June 23rd.
