Washington University Takes Team Title at Midwest Elite Invitational

The Washington University in St. Louis men's indoor track and field team took first at the Midwest Elite Invitational Saturday in Whitewater, Wis.

Junior Eka Jose swept the long jump and triple jump to lead the No. 5 WashU women to a first-place finish out of eight teams in the field. The Bears topped No. 4 and second place Wisconsin-La Crosse 161.50-145.50.

Jose's winning mark in the triple jump (11.98m) ranks third in NCAA Division III, while senior Paige Lawler's first-place time in the 5000m is fifth best in D3 (17:08.59).

On the men's side, WashU ran away with the meet, which featured the top two teams in NCAA Division III. The ninth-ranked Bears won three titles en route to 144 points. 

Junior John Harry Wagner's winning time in the 400m (49.10) is the third-best time in NCAA Division III, while sophomore Jacob Ridderhoff took first in the 800m (1:54.44) to rank eighth-best in D3.
